Elegant Languedoc Maison de Maitre Built For An Affluent Wine Grower

Posted by admin on January 4, 2018

A home with an elegant past €486,000

This elegant maison de Maitre in the Languedoc is a French property offering to share its past with its new owners. It  was built as a home fit for an affluent local winegrower and despite having all mod cons, it retains its sense of the elegance of a bye-gone age. The lovely property in Languedoc Roussillon has 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, garage and terrace with a summer kitchen. The main rooms retain the features of an elegant age and you can imagine the wonderful evenings spent with friends, neighbours and workers tasting the new wines.  It’s also not hard to imagine the joy of swimming in the heated pool on those sunny days of early spring before the heat of the summer sun takes hold. The location of this French property, situated in the heart of the village, also makes it ideal as a full time home, especially for anyone arriving from the U.K. Being situated only 10 minutes from Béziers, the airport with its flights from Stansted, Luton, Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh, makes this an ideal location to make the visiting of family and friends very easy. Béziers also offers good shopping, theatre, concert halls and everything you would expect from a good sized town.

Languedoc Maison de Maitre

A lovely lifestyle in Languedoc-Roussilon

Personally for a leisure visit, I much prefer Pezenas which is only 20 minutes away from this charming winegrowers house. This small town is full of art and history with its lovely 17th and 18th century stone houses with wrought iron balconies oozing with summer flowers, it’s maze of little lanes and alleyways in the centre and lovely shops and markets. It was home to the French playwright Molière who toured the rea with his troupe of actors.  Now his statue still stands proudly in one of the town’s small squares. The beach is also only 25 minutes away and as well as the long sandy beaches of the Mediterranean it aso boasts the picturesque port of Sète sitting on the shores of the sea and the shores of the saltwater lagoon, Etang de Thau. I find visiting Sète quite exciting as it has a ferry leaving twice a week for Tangier. Living in this part of Languedoc Roussillon you can never forget that you have finally made it to France but having Africa and Spain so close provides a really exciting international feel to where you could now call home.
