Gilette is not a big village, but we do find some cafés and restaurants nestled in the old village that has been strategically built on the hilltop starting some 1500 years ago. Just a couple of minutes’ walk from the house there is an observation terrace with spectacular birds eye view over the valley with the river Var in the distance, it’s very hard to walk past this without stopping.
The village is also benefiting from the relatively new road that begins at the foot of the mountain and runs straight down towards the town of Nice and it’s range of shops and entertainment that is now within easy reach. Also, the international airport of Nice is within 35-45 minutes by car from the village.
