Carnival Time
2nd April is the day time carnival known as Mi-Carême (middle of lent). Many towns in France celebrate these carnivals which no longer follow the religious dates but aim to celebrate when the weather turns spring like. The carnival on the 2nd April is followed by a night time carnival on the 8th April. Why the gap you may ask….logical really, it allows the float organisers to get all their lights on the floats ready for the electric show. Both carnivals enjoy the same gigantic floats, musicians and dancers and a fair. The day time one has a cycle race as well and the evening one adds fireworks.
