Living In Poitou-Charente
Life In The Poitou-Charentes
Despite the rural nature of most of Poitou-Charentes there is plenty to see and do. The mild, sunny climate is ideal for all the fairs and festivals held throughout the summer season. If you are not close enough to the sea to cool down there are plenty of leisure lakes, with their own sandy beaches, and lovely rivers for boating and swimming fun. There is no shortage of beauty either with fields of sunflowers, vineyards and meadows full of wild flowers, all languishing under huge sunny skies. The villages are old and interesting and the architecture is charming. For winter days there are towns like Cognac, La Rochelle, Saintes, Poitiers, Montmorillon, Confolens to name just a few. Each has its own character and unlike so many English towns, they still offer individual shops In which to browse and, of course, an amazing selection of cafés and restaurants.
