French Property For Sale In Haute Pyrénées
Head To Haute Pyrénées To Look At French Property For Sale
Having recently established a new partnership with a French agency in the area around Tarbes we have been delighted with the interest from buyers looking for French property for sale. The stunning countryside, the amazing value properties and the feeling of discovering an area not so well known to U.K. buyers amongst the reasons buyers are mentioning for their interest in discovering this area.
So far, no-one has mentioned to us the desire to be in the Madiran wine region. Not surprising really as these wines have not been widely recognised until recently. However, it is a wine that is growing in popularity and is now recognised as one of the premier red wine appellations of the southwest region of France, being on a par with Bergerac and Cahors in terms of the quality of its wines. The Madiran wine region covers 3,000 acres of vineyards spreading across three departments with the village of Madiran being at the centre of the wine production. The Madiran vineyards are located on the foothills of the Pyrenées mountains with the best of the vineyards being located on the steep hillside slopes where the soil and the Mediterranean climate suits the cultivation of the red Tannat grape. Almost all the wine produced in the surrounding area is white but Madiran wine is a deep ruby red. The mountainous climate of the Haute Pyrénées is perfect for the cultivation of the Tannat grape which is well-known for its usage in Uruguay and is now making the best red wines in Madiran. The southwest of France has long been considered a stronghold for the Tannat grape, but only recently has Madiran emerged as the area whose winemakers are most capable of cultivating the best flavors of the grape.
Buy French Property In A Little Known Part Of France
Approximately a million cases of wine are made each year in Madiran which is also a central location for many of the properties offered by our new agency partner in Midi-Pyrennes. So people who head to the Tarbes area to buy French property can count themselves in the forefront of the discovery of a relatively unknown wine region. The presence of the Pyrénées combined with the Mediterranean climate are not only good for grapes, they also make the area a delightful one in which to live. Apart from the constant magnificent views of the Pyrénées and the lushness of the vineyards, there are sleepy villages and bustling towns and with the Atlantic coast only 1hr 30 minutes away and ski slopes only 35 minutes there is never a shortage of things to do and places to visit. Should you ever want a day away from France then Spain is only 1hr 30 minutes away.
One of my favourite properties for sale in Haute Pyrénées currently is this Gascony style farmhouse in immaculate condition and has 4 bedrooms. The grounds extend to approximately 20,000 square metres and offer woodland and pasture as well as a garden. There is also stabling and a barn in the grounds making this an ideal property for anyone with horses or who just wants to enjoy the feeling of green space all around.
