First Abrivado Of The Season
Bull Running Season In Langeudoc-Roussillon
The abrivado is the name of the bull running which is so popular in Languedoc-Roussillon. It is an opportunity for the horseman of the area to demonstrate their skills against the agile one-horned black bulls. As the crowd gather on either side of the set run, the bulls are released and the horsemen must get them to run the course without heading off into the viewing public who see their role as being to divert bulls to make the life of the horseman harder! For the horseman it’s all a matter of showing off their skills and their speed.
The first of the abrivados is run on the beach at Grau du Roi on March 4th. Festivities such as this are all part of owning a property in Languedoc-Roussilon and if you can’t make the 4th March the good news is that there are abrivados in every village in the area throughout the summer.
