Gers Welcomes A New Potential President
Stop press – Gers welcomes a new President
We have just heard from Sarah Day who heads our new partner agency in Gers that there were no votes cast for Le Pen in their commune in the election this weekend. Gers, and particularly Masseube where the agency is based, obviously wants to continue to welcome everyone to share their beautiful countryside, amazing food and peaceful way of life. The name Masseube means ‘the farmhouse in the forest’ and was the name of one of the earliest farm settlements belonging to the Escaladieu Abbey. In 1274 the Abbey founded a Bastide village which has became known as Masseube and is little changed in the centre since those early days. Buying a house in Gers certainly means that you will be buying into a traditional way of life.
A comfortable life with Macron as President?
It is never possible to predict the outcome of an election, especially these days, but if Macron wins life in France is likely to remain more open and welcoming to foreigners. For the majority of UK people wanting to buy property in France the election of Macron would be good news. His focus on business, the economy and keeping France open to all is likely to make owning a home in France a very positive experience. With an improved economy and an open, progressive outlook not only may life be more pleasant for buyers of French property but the investment in their property is likely to increase in value. For those people who have not yet taken the final step to buy a home in France it may be a good idea to do so during 2017 as predictions are that property prices will be rising.
